ELECTION
In our first newsletter since the election, I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate our local Federal Members. We welcome new LNP Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce, and congratulate incumbent LNP Members for Maranoa, David Littleproud and Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien.
The Federal Government though has since changed. We take this opportunity to congratulate the new government under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and implore that all of our Federal parliamentarians keep regional areas in focus.
I look forward to meeting with all our local members, the new government and advocacy groups
to ensure our views are represented.
DISASTER ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
It has sure been another busy month for us all out here in the Burnett Inland. We continue to act as a key conduit agency for disaster events. Unfortunately, the start of May met our community with another disaster event. If you, or someone you know, has experienced any loss or damage to their property as a result of the May 6 rain damage, please contact our office immediately so we can support you in the recovery process.
We are pleased to update that the money raised from Michael and Tina Torrens' PROTEA fundraising, continues to be available to disaster affected farmers. We have been able to distribute funds to those in need as they have called. Thank-you to everyone who supported this fundraiser - it's made a difference.
Please,
if you've been affected, or know someone who has contact us, we're here to help.
BIEDO TO SIGN SBF CHARTER
The Small Business Friendly conference in Townsville was another highlight between newsletters. I'm pleased to announce that BIEDO will be a proud signatory of the Small Business Friendly Charter. The charter's aim is to reduce barriers between large organisations and small businesses and to enhance the
operating environment for small business. By signing this charter we pledge to fulfill the commitments set out in the charter. Small business deserves this focus, and we look forward to supporting it.
I'd like to specially mention the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and their South Burnett born 'Supporting Mental wellbeing through Information, Leadership and Education' (S.M.I.L.E) program that was presented by Executive members Damo and Michael at the conference. What welcome news it is to hear that their S.M.I.L.E initiative will be rolled out to the rest of our great state. It was a proud moment for me as an audience member to see them shine on stage. What a great outcome for the South Burnett, KCCI and businesses.

Register here: https://www.redearth.org.au/event-details/red-earth-leadership-forum. Or perhaps, you'll see us at the Queensland Dought Assistance forums? Register here for those by clicking on the workshop closest to you: Kingaroy or Durong.

We look forward to the next month ahead in working with you to achieve for our Burnett Inland.
