A message from General Manager, Kristy Board

Hi ,

What a month! The Federal Budget was handed down, we’ve been out on the road with the Business Roadshows and assisting the disaster management of the Burnett Inland.

In headlining news from the Federal Budget, it was great to see that regional Australia was included as a full highlight heading in the budget for 2022-2023. However, we still do believe that there is more investment required for regional Australia to be considered sustainable, equitable, and realise the economic output and opportunity to produce more for Australia. Read more about what we’ll see from the Federal Budget and how to take advantage of the opportunities from a Federal Budget.

The Burnett Business Tour has been a great success. Biggenden, Gayndah, Monto and Mundubbera have been great hosts. Thank you to Business Station, TAFE Queensland, Small Business Financial Counselling Service, Business Leap, Many Rivers and Aus Industry for joining tour tour.

None of us need reminding that disasters have a long-term effect on our communities. If you, or someone you know needs assistance because they’ve been affected by a disaster, or would like assistance to mitigate disasters, please contact with myself or one of us on the BIEDO team.

Looking forward to seeing the South Burnett region for the Business Tour this month. Check out what’s on later in the newsletter.

FEDERAL BUDGET WRAP UP

While for some it was a usual March weekday night, the release of the Federal Budget helps steer what problems BIEDO can help communities tackle, and clarifies what our region needs to continue to advocate for.

The 2022-2023 budget had some highlights for the regions. We’ve summarised the budget bullet points and popped them on our website for you.
